Francesco Pio Esposito was born in Castellammare di Stabia on 28 June 2005. He is the youngest of three footballing brothers: Salvatore, born in 2000, and Sebastiano, born in 2002, both also products of Inter's academy. Their father Agostino was a player and later a coach at Juve Stabia.
At the age of six he joined Brescia's youth system with his brothers. In 2014 all three moved to Inter, where Francesco Pio went through every age group up to the Primavera side, which he captained under Cristian Chivu.
His step into professional football came in August 2023, on loan at Spezia in Serie B: two seasons, 79 games and 22 goals, the second of them ending with 19 goals in all competitions and a play-off final defeat to Cremonese.
He returned to Inter in June 2025. In 2025/26, his first Serie A season, he scored 10 goals across the league, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League, winning both the league title and the Coppa Italia. He wears the number 94 shirt and stands 1.91 m tall.
He has been part of the senior Italy squad since September 2025, making his debut at 20 under Gennaro Gattuso.
